Commissioner Miller is an 8th generation Texas farmer and rancher.  He was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2000 where he earned a reputation as a staunch defender of agriculture, constitutional freedoms, and individual liberties for all Texans.  Currently, he is the Texas Agriculture Commissioner, serving in this position since January 2015.

During Miller's tenure as Ag Commissioner, Texas has faced many challenges.  Rural hospitals, farmers, ranchers, parents, and students, and every consumer in our state has been touched by the pandemic and the winter storm.  He has worked hard to meet the needs created by these challenges while expanding agriculture markets for Texas goods.  He is running for re-election in 2022.

We invite you to attend our events.  This is your opportunity to meet fellow conservatives and other like-minded freedom loving Texans.  Here you can share ideas, make new contacts, meet elected officials, and join others who want to Make America Safe and Strong Again!  Everyone is welcome and there is no charge to attend the meetings.

Our second meeting of the month is on Tuesday, August 31, at 7 p.m.

Our guest speaker is Victor Avila.

The meeting is back at Buck Snort BBQ, 224 E. Jefferson St, Van Alstyne.

Come early and eat before the meeting.  Jim will have the barbecue buffet line open at 5.

You will meet Victor, a retired Supervisory Special Agent with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations.  He has a compelling story -- while on assignment in Mexico, he suffered multiple gunshot wounds and survived a violent ambush by the Los Zetas drug cartel in which his partner, Special Agent Jaime Zapata, was killed.  He is an advocate for border security, immigration reform, human trafficking awareness, and the protection of our sovereignty.

His book Agent Under Fire:  A Murder and Manifesto will be for sale.

A few Items of interest:

  •  As you are probably aware, the first special session of the 87th Legislature was a bust.  In order to not pass the "easy to vote and hard to cheat" election laws for Texas, the Democrat representatives flew to DC and some on to vacation in Portugal.

  • Governor Abbott scheduled the 2nd special session which convened at noon on August 7th.  Some of the Dems have returned, but not enough for a quorum.  It's time to change the rules in the House.

  • Once there is a quorum, the legislature should work on passing the priorities voted on by the Republican delegates at the state convention.  These include gender modification, the protection of our electric grid and, of course, reigning in the powers of a governor in an emergency situation.  An added item should be Rep Steve Toth's proposed election audit bill.   Contact our TX Rep Reggie Smith or TX Senator Drew Springer with your concerns or requests.

  • Another update:  Matt Rinaldi was elected on July 11 by the members of the SREC to be the Republican Party of Texas Chairman replacing LTC Allen West who resigned to run for Governor of Texas.

  • August 20 at noon the Grayson County Republican Women PAC will hold their monthly meeting at Mariachi's Restaurant in Sherman.

  • Also on August 20 at 6 p.m. US Representative Pat Fallon is holding a town hall meeting at the Grayson County Courthouse, 100 W. Houston St, Sherman - 2nd floor

  • August 23 the Conservative Men's Club of Texoma will hold their monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Tracks Restaurant, 109 N Woods St, Sherman.
