Texoma Patriots - February #1 2021 Newsletter

The next meeting  is

Thursday, February 11, at 7 p.m.

We will be meeting in the

Activities Room of the Grayson County Courthouse

in Sherman, 100 W. Houston St.

( Enter the building on the SOUTH side across from Knight Furniture on W. Lamar St. The elevator will take you up to the Activities Room. Doors open at 6:20 and close at 7:20.)

Our speakers are Tamara Colbert and Paul Hodson. They co-founded the organization Grassroots Gold. Their mission, according to the two, is to be the Gold Standard in Activism. They will share with us what they have learned from their successful previous grassroots experience in Texas. You may have run into them as they worked to get the Convention of States passed in Texas. According to Tamara and Paul it’s time to change the playing field in Austin and with our local government.

Quote from Milton Friedman, “The important thing is to establish a political climate of opinion which will make it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing.”

“Showing up” and “being heard” are the most powerful statements we can make in advocacy. The goal of Grassroots Gold for this 87th legislative session is to be remembered as belonging to the grassroots - not Blue, Red, or Purple, but Gold, reflecting what we have demanded. With their help, we can learn what it takes to pass priority legislation. The Texas House and Senate both gaveled back in on January 26th, and together we can impel our elected officials to pass the legislative priorities we voted on.

Please take the survey they have posted on their website: https://grassrootsgold.com/

On the homepage, there is a big link that says,

“Let Gov Abbott hear from me.” Answers are anonymous, but they will be using that survey in their discussion.
