Meet and Greet the Candidates running for Justice of the 5th District Court of Appeals. The court of appeals protects the Rule of Law; therefore, it is crucial that we elect conservative justices in order to keep America strong and safe and free. We will ask them to explain the functions of the court. The Fifth District Court of Appeals has appellate jurisdiction over appeals arising from district and county courts in the 6 counties of Dallas (constitutional seat), Collin, Grayson, Hunt, Rockwall, and Kaufman. We want you to get to know the justices since this election we cannot vote straight party but must select each candidate.
The 5th Court of Appeals Justices who are running for election/reelection and will be participating
in the program are:
- Justice Bill Whitehill - Place 8 - served since January 2015
- Justice David Evans - Place 3 - served from 2012 to 2018; appointed in Nov 2019
- Justice John Browning - Place 6 - appointed Aug 24, 2020
Texas District Courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction in Texas. The judges of the Texas District Courts are chosen in partisan elections. They serve four-year terms, after which they must run for re-election if they wish to continue serving. Candidates for the District Courts are:
- Judge Jim Fallon - 15th Judicial District - elected in 2004
Judge Larry Phillips - 59th Judicial District - appointed/elected in 2018-

Early voting begins September 14. Locations will be announced later.
There has been a shuffling of our Grayson County elected officials.
- Former US Rep John Ratcliffe was confirmed as the Director of National Intelligence
- Texas Senator Pat Fallon was selected as the nominee to run for his US Rep, District 4, seat
- That left Fallon’s TX Senate seat open. Five GOP candidates are running for his position.

The >irst four candidates have con>irmed that they will participate.
