89th Legislative Session Recap

Sine Die: the 89th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature ended June 2nd, 2025.

We invite you to join us this Thursday, June 26th, at 7 p.m. to hear a Recap of the Session. We are meeting in the Grayson County Courthouse Assembly Room, 100 W. Houston Street, Sherman.

Our District 62 Texas House Representative Shelley Luther agreed to come and give us an update on the 89th Legislative Session.  In addition, she agreed to share with us the “ins and outs” of the legislative process and how the Texas House operates.  According to Luther, although it wasn’t ‘The Most Conservative Session Ever,’ there were some BIG wins, but a lot was left on the table, for sure.  The Governor scheduled a special session for July 21 to deal with some of these.

Shelley Luther is one of the 150 House members, and she represents those of us living in Grayson, Fannin, Delta, and Franklin counties.  She is one of the Alamo Republicans, the new generation of Republican leadership.  Of the 87 Republicans in the 150-member Texas House, Luther ranked 13 among the “17 most conservative” House members.  The score was based on their votes in the 2025 regular legislative session.

Luther has just announced:  “I’m ready to run for re-election.”  We hope you will support her and help her win another term.  She is a conservative champion and grassroots warrior.  She supported legislation to combat illegal immigration, protect children, cut taxes, build up the state economy, and defend the constitutional rights for those of us living in District 62 and throughout Texas.

Also speaking Thursday evening is Diana Richards, an active local resident who is very involved in protecting our Republic.

She spent a lot of time in Austin during the session testifying on issues dealing with our Texas children.  Perhaps best known for getting inappropriate books out of our school libraries, she works with the TXED911 group.  Diana started her involvement in protecting children with The Matthew XVIII Group which began as a ministry that would analyze Christian sex education curriculum and write reviews.  She was the right-hand gal to its founder Audrey Werner. Diana will bring us up-to-date on this session’s legislative bills.

Enter the Courthouse through the Lamar St entrance across from Knight Furniture.  Then take the elevator to the 2nd floor.  The door will open at 6:30 and will lock automatically at 7:30.  If you arrive late there will be a phone number on the door for you to call and someone will let you in.

See you there Thursday!
