Plan to join us at 7 p.m. on September 11th. We are meeting at La Cima Mexican Grill & Cantina, 21 FM 3356, Van Alstyne TX. It’s right off FM 121 between Van Alstyne and Gunter. Great food! so come hungry. We have invited TAMARA COLBERT and JOSH MARR to help us find answers to today’s problems in government. The goal is to spark a transparency revolution.

Tamara is a media consultant with OpenTheBooks.com, an organization that tracks government spending from salaries to secret contracts, exposing the spending they don't want you to see. Transparency is a first principle and is a building block of representative government, and they believe transparency can transform the way we govern ourselves. They put every dime online in real time. The goal is to hold government accountable to the taxpayers it serves. Open the Books also uncovers waste, fraud, and abuse at every level. Their team of research journalists brings government action to the masses. Previously Tamara co-founded Grassroots Gold and guided many of us around the Capitol in Austin as ‘citizen lobbyists.’

Josh is our Grayson County Commissioner for Precinct 1. He will talk about the Grayson County Assistance District Proposition No. 1 (Unincorporated Area Sales Tax Proposal) which is a 1.5% sales tax on purchases in unincorporated areas. It is not a new tax for residents inside any city limits. Grayson County currently pays volunteers and city-based emergency departments to respond in unincorporated areas. However, counties are not obligated to provide fire and EMS and cities do not have to provide these services outside their borders. Josh will answer your questions before it is voted on in the November 4th Constitutional Amendment Election.
We are strong when we stand together! We invite you to participate in our many Tea Party activities. We are the Grassroots!
