Van Alstyne ISD and Tom Bean ISD are holding bond elections on Tuesday, November 4th.
NOTE! THE VENUE FOR SATURDAY'S MEETING HAS CHANGED. WE ARE MEETING AT THE AMERICAN LEGION CAFE IN VAN ALSTYNE,
293 JAY ROAD, VAN ALSTYNE. SAME TIME - 3 P.M.
Voters in Van Alstyne ISD will vote on the district’s $550,000,000 bond package. Voters in Tom Bean ISD will vote on the district’s $22,000,000 bond.
Early voting runs from October 20 to October 31. Election Day is Tuesday, November 4.
The Texoma Patriots is sponsoring a meeting on Saturday, October 18, and invites the citizens of these communities can come and learn about the bonds and how they, if passed, will affect them. We are meeting at the American Legion Post 376 Cafe, 293 Jay Road, Van Alstyne, from 3 to 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome!
We have invited two people to talk about the issues. Marchelle Bell is a local citizen of Van Alstyne and is active in community affairs. She is a mom and is concerned about her community. Our other speaker is Tamara Colbert with OpentheBooks.com, a nonprofit watchdog organization dedicated to promoting transparency in government spending. Open the Books aims to hold government agencies accountable; furthermore, it empowers citizens to make informed decisions.
We will also take a look at the 17 constitutional amendments and the county proposal that are on the November 4 ballot.
