Do You Understand the 14 Proposed Amendments to the State Constitution?

Texas Secretary of State (SOS) Jane Nelson said “Texans will have the opportunity to vote on 14 proposed amendments to the state constitution.”

We have invited two well-established and knowledgable Texans to help us understand the proposed amendments so we can vote with confidence on these amendments.


DEON STARNES - is District Director for Senator Drew Springer. She served as our State Republican Executive Committeewoman (SD30) for over 8 years. Here she helped govern the activities of the state party. She served on Rules Committee and Candidate Resource Committee. Additionally she was appointed twice as Chair, Convention Arrangements Committee. Teaches homeschool high school students AP Government and American History courses in order to make subjects relevant to their life today. There’s much more she accomplished such as Primary Administrator, Denton County Republican Party.

DAVID WYLIE - serves as State Republican Executive Committeeman (SD12) from 2020 to present. He is active in local Republican politics, he serves as Denton County Republican Party Vice Chair and was Precinct Chair in both Denton and Tarrant Counties. He has served in a variety of positions such as County Convention Rules Chair, Communications Chair, Credentials Chair, and member of the Legislative Priorities Committee. In 2016 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention. He was an Application Developer for American Airlines for 10 years, and since 1982 he is an independent consultant developing software applications.

On September 20, 2023, SOS Nelson’s Press Office released the following: “. . . all the details for casting a ballot can be found at VoteTexas.gov, Texas’ official voting resource. . . Explanatory statements for the constitutional amendments from the Office of the Secretary are available online and the Texas Legislative Council offers Analyses of Proposed Constitutional Amendments complete with background information for each amendment.”

Important dates are: October 10 - last day to register to vote in time for the November 7 election October 23 - Early voting begins and ends November 3 November 7 - Election Day - polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
